I took a break from packing for the new place for a girl's day out with Suze. With the rain falling lightly outside, we tucked ourselves into Café Hacienda (13A Dempsey Road, Singapore 249674; (65) 6476 2922; 9am – 11pm), a lovely hideaway amongst the Dempsey tropics. The maxi dress I picked up during my Tokyo trip back in May was perfect for a lazy day, and I'm relishing the "just-rolled-out-of-bed" look maybe a little too much nowadays. Brunch was fabulous - we had been craving eggs Benedict and eggs Royale for weeks and our hankerings were satisfied completely. Do drop by for reasonably priced all-day brunch, and wash it all down with some champagne or mixed juice - I tried the carrot and green Anjou pear, and it was delicious for a refreshingly cool day.

After an amusing and giggle-inducing session at Honeypot, we retreated to Tatsuya (22 Scotts Road, Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore 228221; (65) 6887 4598) for some temaki and Japanese ice cream to top off our last day out together before we both depart for college. I'm quite honestly going to miss her quirks and penchant for the same things...

Apologies for the slight hiatus over the past week and a half - we've just moved into our new apartment; packing and unpacking 12 extra years of things isn't easy, especially since those 12 years covered my primary, secondary and pre-university educations, several phases of personality changes and eons of memories. The new place is amazing, but I'm leaving for college in London in exactly 11 days - wistfulness and longing are part and parcel of the last days of what still feels like an endless and blissful Singaporean summer.

P.S. When we were shooting outside Hacienda, the blue van drove in, and the driver started waving like mad... so we took a photo of him! Small anecdotes are love.
