Marni x H&M dress and necklace, Marni bag, Burglary ring, Kurt Geiger wedge sandals

When I'm in Singapore and it's 32 degrees outside and sunny, a slinky thin maxi dress is just the thing to protect against city dust while keeping me nice and cool. This Marni x H&M number utilises two beautiful prints - I was particularly impressed with the front and the back are made different by the simple twist of blocking the prints in front and placing a single print at the back. In the ads by Sofia Coppola prior to the launch, I'd always thought there were two dresses so it was a lovely surprise to find out they were one and the same. I love how timeless the dress is thanks to the abstract aspect of the prints.

I don't usually wear a designer head to toe, but I admired the styling for the Marni x H&M collection so much that I bought the massive white flower necklace to go with the dress, and I pulled out this yellow Marni bag with the softest leather from my closet. To show the details at the neck off, I pulled my hair into a low bun.

Wore this to brunch at Group Therapy in Tanjong Pagar with my two favourite girls. GT does an excellent overflowing Mango Passionfruit Smoothie (I think the overflowing aspect might have impressed me more) and I tried the very unique Baked Chilli Crab Pie. Kim went for the fail-safe Poached Eggs (with thick toast, smoked salmon, gruyere and hollandaise) and I think Swen went for the Steak & Cheese Pie. The cafe is lovely for long girly chats and has the cutest memorabilia strewn about in-store.

Summer maxi dresses seem to provoke a deep sense of calm, as if I have some beach breeze surrounding me (the fluttering ribbon at the top of my spine reinforces the sea breeze feel) and maybe in the middle of tall skyscrapers and old shophouses, I imagine myself barefoot, feet sinking into fine powdery sand...
